On the Bright Side – Upcoming Filming in Hawaii

As the filming of “Lost” ends after six years in Hawaii – 2010 brings great news for the film industry in Hawaii.  

• A remake of the  ”Hawaii Five-O” that aired from 1968 to 1980 will begin filming a pilot in mid March, that will star “Lost” actor Daniel Dae Kim. 
• “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” will start filming this summer on Kauai and Oahu.  Johnny Depp will star in this film
• “Soul Surfer” – a movie about Bethany Hamilton, a 19-year old surfer who lost her arm in a shark attack at the age of thirteen and who has continued to surf and win professional surfing championships.  This movie has begun filming this month and stars Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood and Anna Sophia Robb (as Bethany)

Along with the movies, Disney plans to open its first Hawaiian resort at Ko Olina in 2011.  More to come on this!
